Rituals

Rituals. The things that make my days (weeks and years) uniquely alike.

Disclaimer: I purposely did not retouch these photos as much as I could have in order to preserve the authenticity of the moment.

  1. Steven, you look a lot like Jeff! Michelle, would you believe we were just talking about your Valentine’s steak dinner last night? And I love the picture of you taking a picture. Your comment about rituals making life uniquely the same reminded me of this quote by C.S. Lewis that I read recently: “He has contrived to gratify both tastes together in the very world He has made, by that union of change and permanence we call Rhythm. He gives them the seasons, each season different yet every year the same, so that spring is always felt as a novelty yet always as the recurrence of an immemorial theme.” (Letter 25) I’d never thought of that before, and I like it.
